The SparrowsUpon the sparrow's song that wakes the sun I've come to remember what happened when the moon broke in the sky. Do you remember? Do you see me lick my lips because I'm remembering the taste from yesterday--of your lips upon mine. Yours are like curls in coconut clouds. Here your essence drowns in the ecstasy of a dream.  
 
I feel that my words travel like empty vessels across the perplexed wind. Like somewhere along the way they get jumbled in the frost of winter's sorrow and the decease of city's pollution.  
 
And yet the bird still sings.

Lucky PennyI was seven when there laid a penny-  copper beamed like the Grand Canyon.  
I heard it was unlucky-  a penny on tails.  
My fingers griped it,  
eager to fill my piggy bank.  
Luck or not, it chimed the same  
inside a jar full of change.   
It was nine o'clock when there laid my little brother-  face white like my mother's wedding dress.  
I heard him chocking earlier-  I thought nothing of it.  
My fingers pressed his lips blue,  
eager to understand why this was so.  
Motionless or not, dead looked the same  
inside his red vein eyes.

I'm so excited!!!! I'm sure you guys remember Frosted Window that you all helped edit and critiqe. Well this morning my previous English teacher told me "Congratulations" and I was like... what? Since I was only going there to pick up my essay from last year. I placed 3rd in the Fictional Short Story!!!! WHOO-HOOO!!!!

It was crazy, my teacher in my Modern Fiction class was going through role call and when she got to my name she's like, "I'm sure you all know something about The Traveler ," I'm thinking, oh crap! *blush* "We have a published author, Leann Higbee, who placed in The Traveler which is renowned..." Something something lol XD I can't remember what she said anymore. Then she and the whole class gave me a round of applause and congratulated me. I was thinking about that one commercial... Wanna get away? lmao! It's still cool.

I believe in April they put up a recognition dinner thing or something...I don't know how that works.... Wanna get away? XD

On top of all these events today, I went to the first Phi Theta Kappa meeting (the first for me) today. In the mist of it all I volunteered to be the representative for the club. I guess I'm like the spokesperson of what the club will be doing to the other club reps. on campus. Today has been a busy one, this semester is going to an awesome one and I'm only in the second week XD
